ISI has earned a good reputation for connecting international students with local communities. Although I did not participate in all ISI events, EVERY SINGLE event I attended turned out to be much more than I had expected. Likewise, attending this South Asian Night is another decision I will never regret to have made. At first, being a glutton, I was only aiming at the indian cuisine alleged to be from the best indian restaurant in town. Then I met several Indian/Bangladesh students from my department who I rarely had casual talk with before. I was like many international students who tend to live in an isolated bubble with people of similar culture. So even those indian students and I had shared similar course schedules for over a year, we barely knew each other. However, in this occasion, we ended up having a good conversation over the indian culture. They explained to me why

eating with hands could be both convenient and environmental, what the stereotypes of Bollywood movies are, how those Indian foods we were having are made, and so on. Not only did this conversation expand my horizon, I also felt one step closer with my dear friends. Without a doubt, ISI people get the full credit. Furthermore, the musical performance really made my day. I certainly had no idea about Hindi language, but apparently, the power of music is beyond language boundaries, such as the exotic melodies, the little girl's pure vocal, and the dancer's aesthetic dress and figures. It was such a shame that I did not bring a camera with me. Otherwise, I would have shared this eye-catching experience with my family and friends in Taiwan. It is totally worthy to spend a couple hours on all the brand-new experiences: flavorous food, pleasant conversation, and the exotic performance. ISI once again proved to me that for international students ISI is offering fun activities and MUCH MORE.
